AB CONCEPT PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS FROM MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2026

AB Concept, the internationally acclaimed architecture and interior design studio, took part in Milan Design Week 2026, presenting three significant projects that reflect its evolving global vision. The occasion marked the debut of an important new collaboration with the German bathroom design brand Dornbracht, as well as the unveiling of a refreshed edition of an iconic armchair originally designed for Poltrona Frau, now reinterpreted for a contemporary audience. Finally, the Bangle collection, designed for the Japanese porcelain brand Noritake Design Collection, was exhibited in the charming rooms of Alcova.

“There’s an energy in Milan during Design Week that simply can’t be found anywhere else. A unique intersection of cultural dialogue, brilliant minds, and material innovation that becomes a genuine forge for creativity. It’s always a moment to exchange ideas and discover new sparks for whatever we may dream up next.” continues Ed Ng, co-founder of AB Concept. “Being able to present our collaborative work here is always a meaningful experience, especially alongside wonderful partners such as Dornbracht, Noritake, and Poltrona Frau. It was a real opportunity to take part in — and contribute to — a deeper conversation about how design can, and truly should, respond to our increasingly interconnected world.”

The Knot for Dornbracht’s COYA Collection

AB Concept unveiled its first collaboration with German brand Dornbracht, presenting The Knot handles, the second Atelier Edition in the form of exclusive Coya handles.

Inspired by the traditional Chinese Ruyi knot, the design reflects a symbol long associated with good fortune and harmonious continuity. The Knot’s intertwined loops are translated into a sculptural form of four soft wings, each shaped to guide the fingertips naturally, creating a gesture that feels intuitive from the very first touch.

The proportions are carefully calibrated to achieve balance from every angle. Junctions are refined with precision, while curves are tuned for ergonomic comfort. The overall form interprets this cultural reference through a contemporary lens.

The Knot handle has been integrated into Dornbracht’s iconic Coya collection, introducing a more sculptural expression, almost like a small architectural detail, while bringing a playful and symbolic character to the design family.

The Knot handle represents a meeting of heritage, craftsmanship, and modernity. Through form, symbolism, and function, it carries the essence of “as you wish” into the daily ritual of water, anytime and anywhere.

Viola Essence for Poltrona Frau

Originally launched in 2020, marking the first collaboration between AB Concept and Poltrona Frau, the Viola chair is a dining seat designed to elevate the dining experience, blending a classic form with a contemporary edge.

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, a new version of the Viola chair by AB Concept, Viola Essence, was introduced as part of the Poltrona Frau presentation at their showroom in Via Manzoni. This iteration features a more essential design that emphasises the purity of its lines, resulting in an even more elegant and welcoming aesthetic. Viola Essence will also be presented during NYCxDESIGN at the Poltrona Frau showroom in New York (14 - 20 May 2026).

The new piece retains the defining qualities of the original chair, seamlessly bridging indoor and outdoor environments. Lightweight yet exceptionally durable, it offers lasting comfort, making it ideal for extended use while maintaining a timeless and sophisticated appeal.

One of its most distinctive features is its sculptural supporting structure, crafted from a selection of fine woods. The expertly handcrafted curves create refined proportions while ensuring optimal ergonomic support.

Bangle collection for Noritake

The Milano Design Week also provided an opportunity to experience in person the Bangle collection of ceramics and porcelain, designed by AB Concept for the Japanese brand Noritake Design Collection. Following its launch last year, the collection was once again showcased as part of the Alcova programme, within the rooms of the Casa delle Suore.

Bangle is a collection of tableware defined by its sculptural design and refined craftsmanship, inspired by contemporary fashion and the textures of nature. Created by Ed Ng and Terence Ngan, the Bangle Collection presents a sophisticated vision of the table, drawing on the timeless elegance of jewellery. Much like bangles, cherished style accessories, the collection reflects a refined balance between form and function. Crafted from high-quality porcelain, these pieces elevate the everyday dining experience, becoming true design objects to be both admired and used.

As the Bangle collection prepares to enter the European market, Noritake and AB Concept will soon unveil the second chapter of the collection.
